Beautiful drawing of our school by John Kolwaite

My dream job! Years before moving to Massachusetts, I learned about this amazing program for students with Autism. I looked at their website, and thought well I will never live in Boston so I am never going to work there. Much to my surprise, I ended up moving with my partner to Mass! And I was even more surprised to see that they had an art teacher position open. I knew that this was my dream, combining art and special education. And even more specifically working with students on the spectrum. I feel so lucky to be working with amazing students everyday, and so lucky that I get to work at an amazing school.

The job application process is in full swing here. I am officially one week into my search. I have been home alone focusing on cover letters, references, and searching for new jobs. I am hopeful, and very excited for many of the prospects. To keep me grounded I have spent time making art when I need a break, and watching lots of Parks and Rec. Because we all need a Lesley to remind us that we got this!

Now that AJ and I are all moved in and settled in our cozy Fenway apartment, we wanted to start seeing all the sights.

Rockport was a great little town! An old roommate of mine always used to tell me about it. I was excited to get a chance to visit. We met so many artists, and took a little time to draw the little red shack, like so many artists before us.

We visited the Rockport Art Association and Museum which was fantastic. I was even able to find a bead store that offers classes called Seaside Boutique and Beads. I might try to reach out and see if I can teach a class there every once in a while. I think it would be a nice connection to the art community, and a good way for me to reconnect to my craft.

Cap Decorating Party

Last night we celebrated the end of our graduate school career with a cap decorating party!

I am so thankful to have had this experience, to have gained so many friends through my two cohorts, and to have learned from so many amazing mentors.

Thanks y’all see you at Graduation!
